What is Elston Electric?
Elston Electric is a friendly tavern/arcade located on the corner of The Salt Shed complex. The bar is incorporated into the old boiler and has an inviting patio to enjoy some sunshine between game time. We serve great food and nostalgic drinks at hard-to-beat prices, inspired by all things games and boilers. Our family-friendly arcade features a high-scoring mix of old and new games, and redemption games to win a prize for that special someone. So bring the kids or leave them at home, we promise that a boilermaker and a game of pinball is a really nice time.
Is Elston Electric family friendly?
Absolutely! Children are welcome and encouraged to party with us until 10pm. After 10pm, Elston Electric is 21+.
Accepted forms of ID for purchasing alcohol?
As Illinois introduces digital forms of identification, Elston Electric still requires a physical form of ID to purchase alcohol. The below IDs will be accepted for alcohol purchases: photos and photcopies are not permitted.

Can I visit Elston Electric during Salt Shed concerts even if I don’t have a ticket?
Yes! Elston Electric remains open to the public during Salt Shed concerts. While concertgoers can access us from inside the venue, anyone can stop by through our street-side entrance at the corner of Elston and Blackhawk—no ticket required.
What games are available?
We have a wide variety of modern and classic games, including vintage and modern pinball, video games, air hockey, VR experiences, skill cranes, and more. With over 100 machines on the floor, Elston Electric has something for everyone. Check out our current list here.
How do you play the games?
No tokens or quarters needed here! Elston Electric uses a state-of-the-art RFID Game Card system to store credits and accumulate tickets for prizes. Patrons will purchase and load a Game Card at one of our self-service kiosks in the arcade or in the Prize Shop. To play, simply tap your card to a game’s card reader to begin play. Many of our games reward your skills with virtual prize tickets, which accumulate on your game card. When you’re ready, visit our Prize Shop to redeem your tickets for toys, candy, gadgets, and more!
Game Cards can be re-loaded with more credits at any of our kiosks or in the Prize Shop.
Will there be food and drink?
Elston Electric boasts a full bar with playful cocktails both full spirit & spirit-free, draft beer, and the jiggliest jello shots. Our kitchen serves up crowd-pleasing favorites, including pizza from Pizza Friendly Pizza, taquitos, hot dogs, and more—always with vegan and vegetarian options available.
Are you cashless?
Elston Electric’s bar and restaurant are cashless. The Prize Shop will accept cash for Game Card purchases, however.
Is parking available?

We’d love to host your party! Here are some answers to Frequently Asked Party Questions (FAPQ):
What’s included in a party package?
Our standard package includes reserved party space for up to 40 guests, including arcade game cards for each guest. Add-ons such as extra food, desserts, or game card upgrades are available!
How long is each party?
Party bookings are 2 hours.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of guests?
Our party packages are built for groups of 8 up to 40. Anything above 40 guests requires a buyout of the venue.
Can I bring my own cake or dessert?
Yes! If you bring your own cake and need it cut or need plates and utensils, there will be a cake-cutting fee. Ask about our cakes from Good Ambler as well!
Can I bring outside food or drinks?
Outside food and beverages (besides a cake/dessert) are not allowed. We offer a full menu of food and drink options, including vegetarian and kid-friendly items.
Do you offer decorations or can I bring my own?
We provide tablecloths, disposable plates, etc., but feel free to bring your own decorations. Just no confetti, glitter, or anything that needs to be taped to walls. Everything must go with you after the event has concluded.
How early can we arrive to set up?
You're welcome to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled party time. If you need more time for setup, please let us know in advance.
Is the arcade open to the public during our party?
Yes, the arcade remains open during birthday parties unless you've booked a full buyout.
Minimum Spend: Does the per-person party package count toward the $400 minimum spend?
Yes, between the per person package and the add on options, those go toward the $400 minimum to book the party space.
Headcount: Are we charged on the day of the event based on the number of children who attend and use cards?
You are charged for the headcount at the time of your booking and can make changes to that 1 week out. We can always add on more the day of, but we cannot lower the count day of.
Where is the dedicated party space and does it come with staff?
Your booking reserves tables in the arcade. It is not a private room, but a roped off area in the arcade for your food and tables for your guests. There is no dedicated server for your party, but this service can be added on.
In addition to the pizza included in the children's packages, can we pre-order items and also purchase additional food and drinks on the day of the event?
Yes, you can add on more food and drinks the day of the party by ordering with staff at the bar or with you designated server if you have added on that service.
How do I book a party?
Just fill out our party request form on the website. A member of our events team will follow up to confirm availability and help finalize details.
What’s your cancellation policy?
We require a written notice for cancellations. Deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred to a new date with proper notice. Cancellation within 24 hours of your event will be irrevocable, non-refundable, and non-creditable. Please note, arrivals later than 30 minutes from your confirmed time slot will result in the forfeiture of the reservation, booking fees, and deposits.
